We are looking for MALE volunteers aged 18-45 to take part in a study based at the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. The study will take place over four different sessions, during one of which you will take a drug. The four sessions have to be done on separate days, and the last two sessions have to be spaced out by 2 weeks (you will take the drug on one of these final sessions).
The drug is commonly used to treat several conditions and has few side effects. We can tell you plenty more about the drug if you're interested in taking part.
All sessions of the study involve playing simple games where you respond using button presses and eye movements, and you would also answer some questionnaires.
Participants will get an absolute minimum of £120 cash at the end of the fourth session. However, there are chances within each session to win bonuses if you do well.
Not everyone will be eligible for the study, so before you can sign up you will have to answer a few questions over the phone.
After the initial phone call, the first session of the study is a screen for the next three sessions. This screen takes around 3-4 hours and you'd earn approximately £10/hour cash on the day.
If based on the first session you are chosen for the next three sessions you can definitely do all three (but obviously it's up to you whether or not you decide to take part).
The second session takes around 2 hours.
For the third and fourth sessions, you would come to Queen Square in the morning and take two tablets about 45 minutes apart. On one session this will include the medication, and on the other session, a placebo. You would then be free to do what you like for 2 hours, and then spend 4 hours doing the actual study.
If you are interested in taking part or have any questions please contact agnes.norbury.10@ucl.ac.uk with your name and telephone number.
